Meet Alicia

Alicia Dover (she/her) is a counselling intern and graduate student in the Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy program at Trinity Western University. She cares deeply about offering a gentle, inclusive space where clients can show up as they are and feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Alicia approaches counselling with warmth and collaboration, inviting clients to explore the stories and relationships that shape their lives at a pace that feels safe.

Her main focus is supporting children, families, couples, and adults as they navigate challenges, build stronger connections, and move toward what matters most to them. She is especially passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals and families supporting neurodivergent loved ones.

She has experience working at Community Living BC and other organizations that support people with disabilities and mental health needs, bringing hands-on experience with children, youth, and adults in these communities, along with insight into the complexities caregivers face with systems, emotions, and transitions.

She is passionate about helping clients with:

  • Anxiety

  • Stress and burnout

  • Depression

  • Life transitions

  • Family dynamics and relational challenges

  • Neurodivergence (including processing new diagnoses, navigating complex systems and diverse support needs)

Types of practice she includes:

  • Systemic and relational approaches

  • Neuroaffirming and trauma informed practice

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy

Additional trainings:

  • ADHD in the Couple: A Neurobiologically Informed Perspective with Dr. Kyla Johnson (2025)

  • Able-Minded: Mental Health and People with Intellectual Disabilities (2026)

  • AAIDD: Providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Persons with IDD (2026)

When Alicia isn’t with clients or studying, she enjoys walking her dog, crocheting, catching up with friends over coffee, and discovering new cafes for iced lattes.
